Favorite Children's Books:
Anything by Neil Gaiman, Tobhy Riddle, Roald Dahl
For older kids, I love Blueback by Tim Winton, The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak (could be an adult book), and good old fashioned reads like Gulliver's Travels, and Charlotte's Web.
Why should kids read?
To me this is almost like asking why should kids breath! I can't even begin to imagine growing up without books -- nonfiction and fiction -- the world would be a tiny, limited place without the mind expanding, perspective altering, wonderful escape that books provide.
